2003-09-19 - 2:12 a.m. Boom boom boom chick boom boo boom boo boom.. I love the beginning to that 'rock your body' song by Justin Timberlake. My wrist was really bothering me, so I went to see my doctor again. He took some x-rays to see if I had arthritis in my wrist, but he said it still looks like tendonitis. He decided to give me a shot of cortisone. I'm really afraid of needles. The last time I had blood drawn, I nearly passed out. I know I'm making myself sick, but I do it to a point where I'm nauseous and I feel like the room is spinning. I'm crazy. So anyway, he walks back into the room with the needle, and says, "Have you ever had a cortisone shot before?" I tell him no and he says, "oh.. well it hurts a lot, please don't scream". I freaked out until he said, "Just kidding!" It was not funny! He gave me the shot, which didnt hurt too bad, and I left. As I was leaving, I started to feel really dizzy and nauseous. I went to the bathroom to throw up, and then my hands went numb! They started to spasm open, and tingle! I ran back to the nurse and told her what happened. She sat me back in the room, and called the doctor. He later told me that I had a mild allergic reaction to the cortisone, and that I hyperventilated. Ugh... I had to wait there and relax. He said that if the symptoms didn't go away, that he would give me benadryl. Luckily it went away, and I made it 45 minutes late to class. I psych myself out too much when getting shots. I started my extership this week. I got (re)assigned to Kahaluu Elementary school out in Kaneohe. Its a tiny little school with about 250 students from preschool to sixth grade. The speech path there is SO nice. She's really laid back. She's also very good with the kids. A strict yet fun kind of attitude. I shadowed her this week, and will probably start giving therapy next week. I guess it was a good thing that I didn't work for a certain horrible person at the other school. Today I didn't have extern because my supervisor had a meeting to go to. I had lunch with Jared and Kristie at CPK, and went shopping with Kristie, Maile, and Mika. Later I had dinner with Izaak, and hung out at home after that. What a nice day. Tomorrow my plans are to be a bump on a log while I sleep my life away. Could you ask for anything more?
